2020 Lions Soccer: 5th/6th Girls are CHAMPS & Varsity Playoff Details

It’s soccer playoff season, and several Lusher squads are making noise!

On Monday night, the 5th & 6th Grade Girls Team took the NOAL (New Orleans Athletic League) CHAMPIONSHIP with a 3-0 shutout of McGee! It was a great year for a group of girls that Coaches Shawna Doremus and Lauren Polson described as a “gritty” group at Willow’s Tuesday Morning Meeting. Congrats girls and coaches!

Meanwhile, both Varsity squads are in the 2nd round of the playoffs this week:

The Girls Varsity Team are up first, with the 20th ranked group travelling to Lake Charles for a 6pm Tuesday night matchup against the 4th ranked St. Louis Catholic. This comes after the Lions defeated the 13th ranked David Thibodaux in a 2-1 upset last week. You can access the full playoff bracket here. Geaux Girls and Coaches Eric Kugler and Kelsey Confrede!

The Boys Varsity Team enters the playoffs as the #3 ranked team with a 17-2-4 record. As a Top 8 seed, the boys received a first round Bye and were able to get some rest before playing their 2nd round game. They will be playing #14 seed DeRidder on Thursday, 2/13, at 6:00pm at Pan-American Stadium. The winner of this game will take on the winner of #11 Teurlings Catholic and #6 Parkview Baptist sometime next week. You can see the full playoff bracket here. We hope to see all of our fans in attendance, making some noise for our boys and Coaches Ben Barcelona and Dan Perez!

***UPDATE*** The Boys won 3-0 and are moving on to Round 3!
