    Lusher Wins National Scholastic Awards!

    After winning an incredible 241 regional 2019 Scholastic awards last month, students in Lusher’s Creative Writing, Media Arts, and Visual Arts departments have now won gold and silver medals on the national stage as well.

    Creative Writing: Senior Raven Little received a Gold Medal for her senior portfolio, “In This One, The Black Boy Only Dies Once.” Raven is Lusher’s first Gold Medal portfolio winner! There are only 16 Gold Medal recipients in the senior portfolio category, eight in writing and eight in art. The award comes with a $10,000 scholarship, and the recipients will receive special recognition in June at the national Gold Medalists award ceremony. Kai Chenevert also received a Gold Medal, in flash fiction, as did Eleanor Guichet, in humor. Brynn Beatty received a Silver Medal in flash fiction.

    Media Arts: Eleanor Godbold received a national gold medal and the National American Visions Medal for her work in film and animation

    Visual Arts: Jude Mikulencak won a national gold medal for his painting, “Temptation.” Charlotte Davenport won a silver medal for in painting.
