8th and 9th grade ELA classes were treated to a reading and talk by Marti Dumas on Thursday 3/30. Ms. Dumas read from her latest book, Wildseed Witch, and answered lots of student questions. Wildseed Witch will be available for purchase in paperback and hardcover at the HS Book Fair; you can also pre-order the sequel, Charmed Life, which will be delivered on May 2.
Our CA Dance Seniors will be performing their own choreography along with the Juniors, this Saturday on April 1 in the Middle School auditorium at 3pm.
Last Friday, Mamaroneck High School, from Mamaroneck, NY came to the Willow School to play for and collaborate with Mr. Jordan's Certificate of Artistry Jazz Band.

Open tomorrow through Monday of next week is our 3rd art show in our series of CAVA senior shows in the Cave gallery, room 407, featuring two amazing painters with two very distinct styles - M. Candler and F. Freyder. Stop by anytime! We will have a reception for the show (with snacks!) this Friday after school, 3:30 - 4:30.

Congratulations to Willow School senior William Xi! He has been named a finalist in the Louisiana High School Student of the Year competition! William will join other finalists at the Capitol Park Museum in Baton Rouge on April 19 for an awards ceremony and the announcement of the Louisiana Students of the Year winners. We couldn't be more excited to have William represent The Willow School!
We are so proud of our HS orchestra! The Willow HS Orchestra (grades 8-12) competed in the Louisiana Music Educators Assoc. (LMEA) District IV Multi-District Orchestra Large Ensemble Music Performance Assessment on March 16. They received #1 rankings (highest score possible) in all 3 categories. The orchestra performed 3 songs on stage in front of other Louisiana Middle and High School orchestra students. They also performed a judged sight reading piece. Congrats!

Congrats to the Willow Academic Games team. On-Sets, where the Senior Division team recorded yet another 1st place finish. Contributors to that team include seniors Jack McAvoy, who also finished 1st overall individually, and William Xi, tied for 10th, as well as junior Roy Wilkes, tied for 14th. In the third game, Presidents, played in January, William finished 3rd; Jack tied for 10th, and Roy tied for 12th. The Senior team overall recorded a 3rd place finish for Presidents.
CAVA students participated in CAVA 2 portfolio reviews.
The second Mission Ignition volunteer opportunity is THIS SATURDAY, 3/18/23, from 9:00AM to 12:00PM at Port Sisters Urban Garden, 2614 Port Street, New Orleans, LA 70117. We will be constructing garden beds, digging out a future pond, installing fencing, and more.
