We are thrilled to announce that one of our middle school students is the 2025 Louisiana State Chess Champion! Two Willow 7th graders attended the Louisiana State Scholastic Chess Championship. This chess tournament is the highest level of scholastic chess competition in the state of Louisiana. This year, they hosted more than 120 students from all over Louisiana.
Isaiah Felix and Luca Culotta competed in the K-8 division. Isaiah Felix finished in first place and Luca Culotta in second place. The students worked hard at every tournament this year leading up to the Championships and played extremely well while representing Willow Middle School. Willow is very proud to have two students finish at the top of the K-8 division.
