Academic Games

Huge congrats to the Willow Academic Games teams! Four Willow students traveled to Orlando, FL, to compete on behalf of The Willow School in Academic Games Nationals (three of them foregoing Prom to do so!). In all, there were more than 750 competitors from all over the country. After eight years of competitions, this is the best performance our teams have recorded. Our 8th grader Ayan Jayawickramarajah’s team finished tied for 7th in Propaganda, 5th in Presidents and 6th overall nationally! Our junior Roy Wilkes tied for 7th individually in Presidents and his team finished 7th in On-Sets. Our senior team, which included Jack McAvoy and William Xi, finished 6th or better in all games (tied for 6th in On-Sets and 6th in Equations) and made the podium in two (bronze for a 3rd place finish in Propaganda and silver for a 2nd place finish in Presidents). They finished 5th of all teams nationally overall! Individually, they recorded four top 10 finishes – Jack tied for 7th in Equations and William finished tied for 3rd in Propaganda and tied for 5th in Presidents, as well as 7th nationally overall! Way to finish strong, Willow seniors! And best of luck to the teams and players next year!
