​Willow 2nd grade teacher Jamie Staes is the first recipient this school year of the WWL-TV/Credit Human EXCEL Teacher Award! Tuesday afternoon, journalist Malik Mingo surprised Ms. Staes with the award, which includes a check for $2,000, in her classroom. Her students cheered her on and some were interviewed, sharing loving and appreciative messages for their special teacher. Each recipient of the award will be recognized in a monthly segment on WWL's Great Day Louisiana show. Keep an eye out for the episode, which will air Oct. 28. Congratulations to Ms. Staes! What a well-deserved honor!
