Drama Troupe is getting ready for their show next week! "The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf" is moving from rehearsals to showtime - you can see them in the Goldring on Thursday, 2/6 at 6pm, during Friday, 2/7 at student matinees, or on Saturday, 2/8 at 2pm. The cast and crew are excited to show off all of their hard work!

4th graders hosted their Kindergarten Buddies for the 1st annual Buddy Bowl! The kindergartners learned how to make paper footballs and played paper football with their buddy, predicted the outcome of the Super Bowl, and made a super bowl of snacks! Everyone had a great time!

For Thankful Thursday, two fourth grade TAT students checked in with Ms. Weston and Ms. Fitzpatrick's first grade classes. Ms. Fitzpatrick's Beehive was thankful for: friends, family, dogs, Taylor Swift, Earth, trees, pets, cheese, the Willow community, sports, snow, soccer, video games, electricity, cats, kind and curious friends, and a community that believes we are better together. Ms. Weston's Butterflies were thankful for: robots, brothers, dads, moms, video games, family, friends, dogs, the Willow community, crystals, pets, and nature.

The Care to Change Team created an amazing Promise Lion. This was a change for students to think about the No Place For Hate Promise again. They then brainstormed ways they are following the Promise or about a particular part of the Promise that they would like to focus on as a class or individually. They signed their names to the mane, and our lion will remind us of our Promise. Thanks, Care to Change Team!

Heart and Soul Highlights! Monday was Kindness "Ties" Us Together. Students made leaves for a gratitude tree. Tuesday was Don't Hide From Kindess (and we wore our camouflage). Students decorated a flower to offer as gratitude at recess. Wednesday was "Workout" Our Problems with Kindness. Students made feathers of gratitude in their classrooms. Thursday was Peace, Love, and Kindness and the tie-dye vibes were strong! Recess centers had a GRATITUDE acrostic with all sorts of ideas. Friday is What's the Number One Rule? and we all have our Willow spirit gear on. Students contributed to a celebration and appreciation board in the cafeteria.

Even Roary enjoyed the snow!!! #willow_school_nola #snowday2025 #nolaps #nolaED

Heart and Soul week is ending with the return of Morning Meeting! Friday was Willow spirit day - to remind us of the Number One Rule! The Care to Change Team taught us Mindful Monday Martin Moustache breathing and shared about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Ms. Clogher passed the Golden Lion on to Ms. Denise on behalf of Officer Carr, for keeping us safe and taking care of us each and every day. We also got to sing and dance to "Learning the Willow Way." What a way to end the week!

Please donate during our HS Blood Drive tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 16.

Join us for the PTSA Coffees at the MS (Wednesday) and LS (Friday). Hope to see you there!

Ms. Kerrigan and her first and second graders created some awesome artwork, showing themselves when they're happy.

It's Heart and Soul Week! Tuesday had us wearing camouflage, reminding us that "we don't hide from kindness." At recess, students were able to create flowers to offer as gratitude. Thanks to families who helped at recess stations!

The third floor main hallway looks amazing, thanks to Mr. Young's 4th grade students' artwork and Ms. Hingle! They learned about printmaking to create a relief print of an animal, using repeating patterns to create a variety of textures. They also worked in air dry clay to create a house inspired by historical New Orleans architecture. They worked on basic hand building techniques to build a sturdy form, and then pressed patterns into the surface. Color was added with oil pastels, and then they dipped the houses in ink for a resist effect. Great work, 4th graders!

Head to the Broadside for some great live music tonight and support The Willow School's Symphonic Band! Tickets available here:

Holiday Spirit - activated! Thanks to our amazing band on Thursday morning, who got us up and dancing and singing! The Willow community was sparkling and shining - in so many ways!

Mr. Hausman led Ms. Hassan's 3rd grade and Ms. Son's 4th grade classes in a strings performance Tuesday. Bravo, musicians! Way to get us in the holiday spirit!

Mr. Smith was joined by some fourth grade helpers for Mindful Monday, leading the school in the affirmation: "I know I can be what I want to be. If I work hard at it, I'll be where I want to be."

This week, we'll say farewell to Officer Carr, who will be taking some time off to focus on his health and his family. Ms. Neikirk passed him the Golden Lion, because of how he always does his best work and is so positive. Ms. Clogher wished him well on behalf of the entire Willow community, thanking him for his tireless work keeping us safe and always taking care of us. Thank you, Officer Carr!

Ms. Louviere's 3rd grade class performed Friday morning, singing "The Sound of Silence" for us at Morning Meeting. Thanks, singers!

The fourth grade TAM students performed "Hello Goodbye" on Thursday, wowing us with their skills! Thanks for that awesome start to our morning!
