The Care to Change Team created an amazing Promise Lion. This was a change for students to think about the No Place For Hate Promise again. They then brainstormed ways they are following the Promise or about a particular part of the Promise that they would like to focus on as a class or individually. They signed their names to the mane, and our lion will remind us of our Promise. Thanks, Care to Change Team!

Heart and Soul Highlights! Monday was Kindness "Ties" Us Together. Students made leaves for a gratitude tree. Tuesday was Don't Hide From Kindess (and we wore our camouflage). Students decorated a flower to offer as gratitude at recess. Wednesday was "Workout" Our Problems with Kindness. Students made feathers of gratitude in their classrooms. Thursday was Peace, Love, and Kindness and the tie-dye vibes were strong! Recess centers had a GRATITUDE acrostic with all sorts of ideas. Friday is What's the Number One Rule? and we all have our Willow spirit gear on. Students contributed to a celebration and appreciation board in the cafeteria.

Heart and Soul week is ending with the return of Morning Meeting! Friday was Willow spirit day - to remind us of the Number One Rule! The Care to Change Team taught us Mindful Monday Martin Moustache breathing and shared about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Ms. Clogher passed the Golden Lion on to Ms. Denise on behalf of Officer Carr, for keeping us safe and taking care of us each and every day. We also got to sing and dance to "Learning the Willow Way." What a way to end the week!

The third floor main hallway looks amazing, thanks to Mr. Young's 4th grade students' artwork and Ms. Hingle! They learned about printmaking to create a relief print of an animal, using repeating patterns to create a variety of textures. They also worked in air dry clay to create a house inspired by historical New Orleans architecture. They worked on basic hand building techniques to build a sturdy form, and then pressed patterns into the surface. Color was added with oil pastels, and then they dipped the houses in ink for a resist effect. Great work, 4th graders!
