Before the Mardi Gras break, our 7th-grade students held a special event for our entire middle school. They created shoebox floats honoring important African Americans in US History. They shared their floats with the entire middle school during our annual Black History Month parade.

The senior headed in a goal off a long free kick from midfield for the lone goal in a state semifinal win against Bossier. The goal was his fifth of the playoffs.

Students from the Black History Club are reading "spotlights" of African Americans in the Arts to help our school celebrate Black History Month.


Beta club members put together kindness kits for the unhoused population in New Orleans. We admire their commitment to helping our community.



Students in Ms. Patterson's ELA classes worked with our librarian Ms. Barrios this week. During their library lesson, they learned about different book genres and sorted books into genre groups.

7th graders are hard at work constructing their shoebox floats for their Black History Month parade. We can't wait to see their finished products!

Authors Lisa and Matt McMann will have a presentation and book signing on Monday, Feb. 19 at 12:30 pm for our sixth-grade students. This form allows the author to pre-sign the books for the students. Educators from The Historic New Orleans Collection visited all of Ms. Guillory's 7th grade Social Studies classes on Friday. They helped the students have a more in-depth study of Mardi Gras traditions and culture.
