Willow took home first place in the Louisiana Scholastic Chess Championship, K-6, in Baton Rouge. The top three finishers are all Willow 5th graders in K-6:

Quintin Moore, 2nd
Luca Culotta, 3rd
This is the highest level of scholastic competition in the state. They played 5 rounds over the span of a day. We are very grateful to Coach Nick and all he has done to further chess for these students. We also hope more students will join the team next year!

The Tran family had the winning bid for the Larry Nance, Jr. jersey that was auctioned at the Pelicans game The Willow School attended a few months ago. Willow School senior, William Xi, has been selected by 826 New Orleans as a "Pizza Poet Laureate." William's contest entry, "Beginning," was selected and will be featured on pizza boxes throughout New Orleans today, on Pizza Poetry Day. We would love for as many families and staff as possible to go out and purchase pizza at a participating pizzeria and support our Willow School poet on this day. Our final senior Certificate of Artistry Visual Arts (CAVA) art show is now open in the Cave Gallery (room 407) featuring the intricate, surreal, meticulously painted scenes of Violet Nemeth, the intergalactic-inspired saturated watercolor explosions of Bella Supak, and the modernist, lunar-inspired furniture and cozy room installation of Mila Kwaske. The show is open now through Tuesday. Check it out! There will be a reception (WITH SNACKS) after school on Monday.
Congratulations to pianist Marbella Maristany for earning three music awards!
At The Ursuline Academy Bach Piano Contest, Marbella placed 1st in her division for her performance of Bach's Fugue No. 21 in B-flat major. At the New Orleans Music Teachers Association competition, she placed 2nd for her Bach Fugue performance, and she placed 1st for her performance of Mozart’s Phantasie No. 3 in D minor.
