Members of our Willow School bands participated in the annual District Six Honor Band concert at Tulane University. An honor band is a composite ensemble made up of top players from schools in a certain location. The three Honor Bands consist of a challenging audition process for the top 60 players from each region for each respective band. Students who make the District Six Honor Band then have a three-day weekend to prepare the music on Tulane's campus, culminating in a concert on the final day. Congrats to these members of the 6th grade band: Jacob Matthews; Justin Gardere; Henry Sims; August Doussan; Leif Rodning; Liam O'Keefe; Josiah Carter; Louis Ray; Christopher Holcomb; and Nathaniel Larocca-Goldberg. Congrats also to these 7th grade band members: Alanna Meredith; Olin Parker; and Donte Allen. Bravo to High School members: Madoc Schwilke; Porter Noyes; Robert Fritzsche; Kevin Li; Noah Boudreaux; Alexander Dufour; Naomi Hart; and Keagan Doussan.

The LPO will perform a free concert featuring Big Chief Juan Pardo for anyone age 15 and under at McMain this Saturday, Jan. 27, at 11:00am.

Kindergarten and 4th grade buddies worked together to support Take Paws Rescue, a volunteer, foster-based, non-profit rescue group. Take Paws finds animals loving foster families as they await a forever home. The buddies wrote notes of appreciation and encouragement that foster families will receive when they take in a foster animal. They collected items for foster families to be used at Take Paws' Stray Café. Take Paws volunteers and foster dogs Oogie Boogie, Muffin, and Lil Bit visited to share about their organization and collect the students' letters and donations!!

Jake is one of four local high school quarterbacks who turned in outstanding performances on the football field this past weekend. The recognition is entitled "Futures" as these high school stars are potential future candidates for the Manning Award, which recognizes the top collegiate quarterback in the nation. It was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. Way to go, Jake!

Ms. Ferrara received a school science lab makeover support package valued at $10,000. Fantastic!
